The Glioblastoma Cerebral Organoid Translational Core develops clinically relevant, patient-specific platforms for high-throughput drug screening in glioblastoma. We leverage on the GLICO model, a 3D co-culture system that integrates patient-derived glioma stem cells with human cerebral organoids to better recapitulate the tumor microenvironment and intratumoral heterogeneity of human GBM (Pine, Cirigliano et al., 2023). We have engineered next generation luminiscence-based tumor-tracking systems that enable real-time, non-destructive measurement of glioma cell viability within cerebral organoid, allowing longitudinal assessment of tumor growth and therapeutic response.

By combining with automated liquid handling, luminescence-based readouts, clinically relevant drugs and patient-specific tumor models, the Core provides a scalable platform to identify personalized therapeutic vulnerabilities and prioritize candidate therapies for precision oncology.
